Throughout its history, Japan's greatest economic challenge has been its access to productive resources. During WWII Japan became so aggressive  and expanded seeking to gain resources.

Currently, the economy of Japan is a highly developed and market-oriented economy. It became the third-largest globally by nominal GDP and the fourth-largest by purchasing power parity. Besides, Japan constitutes the world's second largest developed economy.
