Genetics studies the inheritance of genes which are located on loci in a chromosome. Locus (singular) or Loci (plural) is the particular site where a gene is found on a chromosome; homologous chromosomes have corresponding gene loci. When genes are linked, they are located closely enough on a chromosome that they are usually inherited together.
