here's the answer:

let's pot x as width and 8+x as length
[tex]2(x + 8 + x) = 88 \\ 2x + 16 + 2x = 88 \\ 4x = 88 - 16 = 72\\ x = \frac{72}{4} = 18[/tex]
the width is 18


so the length will be

18+ 8= 26
