Hi there!

Composting protects our ground water supply because when some items are thrown in the trash, they end up in landfills where they stay to decompose and mix into poisonous items. The poison then sinks into the soil, and, over time, can reach groundwater and make it unpure, therefore decreasing the amount of safely useable groundwater.

Hope this helps!
