Gerrymandering can have a damaging effect on the principle of democratic accountability. It is a political practice during election in which politicians manipulate the the district boundaries in order to favor one political party. Gerrymandering is when a political group tries to alter a voting district to establish an outcome that benefits them or damages the group who opposes them.
