well a group of people gather around to hunt for witches and at the end of almost every witch hunt if they catch the witched they burn them down.

If a witch was found, they were sentenced to death either by burning at the stakes, hanging or some other method. Burning of the stakes and hanging were the two most common. Witchcraft was illegal!
