Odysseus would n\ever have reached home without the advice given to him by Tiresias. When Odysseus men finally succeeded in persuading him to continue the voyage homeward to Ithaca, he asks the enchantress Circe for the way back home, but she instead commanded that he must sail to the underworld to speak with the spirit of Tiresias, a blind prophet.
