Let x represents the height of the window

So width of the window will be (x-6)

Area of the storm = (h )(w)

315 = x(x-6)

315 = [tex] x^{2} [/tex] - 6x

[tex] x^{2} [/tex] - 6x - 315 = 0

Factors of the above equation will be

(x - 21)(x +15) = 0

x - 21 = 0 ⇒ x = 21 in

x + 15 = 0 ⇒ x = -15 in

We can not consider negative value as height never be negative.

So height = 21 in

Width = x - 6 = 21 - 6 = 15 in
