The Aral Sea Disaster would be the best example of the "Law of Unintended Consequences". The Sea is completely dependent on the rivers and ground water to keep it full. When the people began to build irrigation systems off out it, it has led to a major water shortage in the area. The Rivers and ground water cannot replenish the water that is being pulled out and used.
