Part A

5 persons are sharing 1/4 piece of gums

1/4 ÷ 5 = 1/4 x 1/5 = 1/20

Each person will get 1/20 piece of that 1/4 foot gum


Part B

if the 5 person are sharing the 4 1/4 pieces of gum.

4 1/4 ÷ 5 = 5/4 ÷ 5 = 5/4 x 1/5 = 1/4

Everyone will get 1/4 piece of the gum
