The men who gathered together in anticipation of a vote for America to become independent at the Continental Congress were Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Robert R. Livingston and Roger Sherman. They drafted the declaration of independence and then delegated Thomas Jefferson to head the plan.
