To say that people usually want to hear about things that are meaningful to them is to say that people are egocentric. Egocentric means that an individual is self centered and only cares for themselves. They do not care much for the feelings or thoughts of other people and they always want to be the center of attention. This type of person holds themselves in high regard and could care less about holding others in that same light.
