One way in which the Spanish War of Independence encouraged some in the colonies to seek new political and economic rights was that it showed the potential power of armed and "strong" uprisings, that refused to take "no" for an answer when it came to enacting basic structural change.
The colonies took advantage of Spain's weakened ability to prevent rebellion. :) Hope this helps
