Sin is an immoral act that is considered to be a transgression against divine law. To do so is always a known act of rebellion or fearless of god in Puritian times. With pain and evil, giving someone pain is considered evil, and being evil is a sin. The three characteristics go hand in hand. Sin what makes us and pain is a feeling but evil is not something you yourself have to be characterized.
