If Matt filled a 2 1/5 cup container, how many 1/5 cups would he need to use

well since it is out of five, and there is 2 whole numbers, 2 times 5 would equal 10 , but you still have 1/5 left so you would do 10 plus 1 which would equal 11. He would need to use 11 cups.
