why does water fill the bottom of a glass rather than cling to the side

When you pour water into a glass, gravity is pulling the water down to the bottom of the glass instead of pulling it to the sides and since glass is a substance that glass easily rolls off of, it is easier for the water molecules to locate at the bottom.
