The Russian says the ship was assaulted in light of the fact that the locals don't need Kurtz to leave with the team, for he has expanded everybody's brain there. The Russian says that he has gone so far that he doesn't know whether he will ever get back. Evidently he has been separated from everyone else with Kurtz for a long time. His feeling of enterprise is unadulterated, and excitement urges him ahead.
