2 x 0.20 = 0.40

2.00 - 0.40 = $1.60.

We need to calculate the rate Kate pays, not the actual amount.

If the normal price is $2/lb and there is a 20% discount, then Kate pays

($2/lb)(0.80)  = $1.60/lb for the berries.
