When you are adding or subtracting fractions make it so the denominators (the bottom number) match
2 and 3/8 could be kept the same
Change 3/4 to 6/8 (because 4 times 2 is 8 and 3 times 2 is 6)
Now you do 2 and 3/8 - 6/8 which is 1 and 5/8 which is less than 2
