Islamic art is more of a visual art. Some pieces have to do with their religion while others do not. Arabesque is what you are referring too. Plant and vegetation art. The don't typically paint humans because that can be a form of idolatry, a sin, so not many pieces have people or even animals in them. Most art from Islamic Culture is some sort of design.
