x = y - 3

x + 3y = 13

x + 3y = 13    (replace x with y-3)

y - 3 + 3y = 13

4y - 3 = 13

4y = 13 + 3

4y = 16

y = 16/4

y = 4

x = y - 3

x = 4 - 3

x = 1

The answer is A. (1,4)
