1/3x + 9 = 21   (subtract 9 from each side)
.        - 9    -9

  1/3x = 12   (multiply 3 to each side)

   x = 12*3

   x=36

Subtract 9 from both sides.

1/3x+9−9=21−9

1/3x=12

Multiply both sides by 3.

3*(1/3x)=(3)*(12)

x=36
