Ponyboy does not have a good reasons to fight therefore he goes to each other of the greasers to ask them individual reasons to fight that it self- defender. You can assume that Ponyboy fought in the rumble because he wanted to support his “gang” and does not want to make fun of him for not being there that how he feel.
