(3 + 2i) + (-4 + 6i)

Get rid of the parenthesis.

3 + 2i - 4 + 6i

Note how we got rid of the (+) sign in +(-4). We do this because a negative times a positive is always going to be a negative.

Combine like terms.

(2i + 6i) + (3 - 4)

Simplify.

8i - 1
