An isosceles has two sides that are equal, so those two diagonals are equal, thus:

5x+13=11x-5
5+13=11x-5x
18=6x
3=x

If you double check:
5•3 + 13 = 11•3 - 5
15 + 13 = 33-5
28 = 28
