29-y+2y=45

y=45-29

y=16

x=29-16

x+2(29-x)=45

x+58-2x=45

-1x=-13

x=13

y=29-13=16

x+y = 13+16 = 29

x+2y= 13 + 2(16) = 13+32 = 45

so the numbers are 13 & 16
