In infra-red film photography the photographic film is sensitive to wavelengths longer than visible light. Light has a wavelength range of 400 nm - 700 nm. Infra-red photography covers the range of wavelengths between 700 nm - 900 nm. This region of the spectrum is particularly sensitive to thermally emitted radiation.
