Cross multiply.. 2x x 3x = 6x^2 and 32x3= 96. So the new problem is 6x^2 = 96 (divide both sides by 6) and we get x^2 = 16 but since the x is squared we have to square root both sides that leaves us with x=4. Looks like you had the right idea but when x is multiplied by another x it becomes x^2 and then you have to square root both sides at the end to get plain x
