The steps in the erosion cycle are. The youth stage, when a river flows on an uneven surface creating lots of quick erosion. The mature stage, when the land mass is now dichotomized (cut), with a decent drainage system, forming valleys. The elder (old) stage, when the river flows at the base of erosion and velocity is low.
