z is an alternate interior angle to the supplementary angle to 62 degrees.

Therefore, 180 - 62 = z; 118 degrees.

z is a vertical angle to (4y-14) so we can set them equal and solve for y.

4y - 14 = 118
4y = 104
y = 26 degrees

z = (4y-14)

z + 62 = 180
180-62= z
z = 118
plug in 118 for z into the first equation
118=  4y -14
118+14=4y -14+14
132=4y
132/4= 4y/4
33=y
