most Middle Eastern countries are highly dependent on food from abroad. With the exception of Israel, agriculture in the region remains undeveloped. This results in an enormous cost.
Most of the middle east countries are oil-rich and depends mostly on this product and many of them being landlocked like Iraq and have limited access to the agricultural products and produce less as they soil is declining in fertility.
