Low birth weight, undernutrition in infancy, and rapid weight gain in early childhood are associated with high risk of disease in emerging adulthood. Higher risk of disease can be associated with these factors because unstable and rapid changes can mean that he or she can experience disease as he or she proceeds to adulthood.
