Ok so here it goes:
9=x-2y
3x +5=2y

I started with the first equation and added 2y to both sides I got:
x=2y+9
So I substituted x in the 2nd equation.
I got:
3(2y+9)+5=2y
Then I distributed:
6y+27 +5=2y
I combined like terms:
6y+32=2y
Then I subtracted 6y from both sides:
32=-4y
Then I divided by -4 on both sides:
-8=y
Y=-8
Then I substituted y in the first equation:
9=x-2(-8)
9=x+16
I subtracted 16 from both sides:
-7=x
X=-7
So x=-7 and y=-8
