7.5% of $80 = $6

Here's why:
Using proportions. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ x 7.5
⠀ ------- = --------
⠀ 80 100 ⠀
7.5 times 80 = 600
100 times x = 100x
600 divided by 100 = 6
x = 6
