y - 5 = 3(x-1)

1. Get rid of the parenthesis.
   3 * x = 3x , 3* -1 = -3
 =3x - 3

2. Add 5, since it's negative and crossing the equal sign it becomes positive.
y - 5 + 5 = 3x - 3 + 5

3. Five cancels out, -3 becomes +2.
y=3x + 2

In which, when we look at the graph, our y-intercept is 2. Our slope is 3x or 3x/1, when we begin on 2, we can go over 1 and up two.
