In John Winthrop's "City on a hill" he said this in his speech while in Arbella ship which contains eleven thousand Puritans, they are going to Massachusetts. They went to America because Puritans believe in predestination, they believe that they are the one to be saved by God who is all-knowing and all-powerful. They believe that in America they will experience "conversion" and they will be told that they have been saved.
