The speaker in "The Raven" is the poet, Edgar Allen Poe that expresses his sadness and loneliness after the death of his young wife Lenore. He can be described as melancholy, depressed, emotional, desperate, and furious. He is melancholy, depressed, and emotional because of Lenore's death. He is desperate to find some sort of leisure or escape from his feelings. He is furious because of the raven that is at his chamber door.
