The Peregrine population crashed between 1950 and 1970 due to pesticides like DDT. The future of these magnificent birds remained uncertain for nearly two decades. Thanks to the diligent work of conservationists like Tom Cade, officials removed the Peregrine from the endangered species list in 1999.
