what is the difference between speed and velocity ?

Speed is the distance traveled
                             time
but velocity is the change in distance
                                 time

Speed and Velocity are similar with their only real differences being that Speed has to be positive, and Velocity is a vector, which means that it has to have direction and magnitude.
