Ovules ........The female gametophyte—specifically termed a megagametophyte—is also called the embryo sac
in angiosperms. The megagametophyte produces an egg cell (or several
egg cells in some groups) for the purpose of fertilization. After
fertilization, the ovule develops into a seed.
