I am currently $13$ times as old as my granddaughter. Next year, I will be $11$ times as old as my granddaughter. How old am I now?

How old am I now?: You are  65 years old now

Let y represent father's age now

Let x represent daughter age now

First step

y=13x

y+1=11×(x+1)

Second step

y+1=11x+11

y-11x=d

Third step

Substitute

13x-11x=10

2x=10

x=10/2

x=5

Last step

y=13x

y=13×5

y=65
