Garrett is 3 years older than Rachael. In 2 years the sum of their ages will be 39. How old is Garrett now?

Let garret’s age be x

x + 2 + (x + 3) + 2 = 39
2x + 7 = 39
2x = 32
x = 32/2
x = 16

Garrett’s age after two years = 16 + 2 = 18
