The decimal would be 0.8333333......

let x be 0.833333....

10x would be 8.333...

100x would be 83.3333....

100x - 10x would be 75, because the repeating 3s will cancel out

90x = 75

75/90 = x

x = 75/90 = 15/18 = 5/6

The decimal is 5/6

Now we add back the whole number, 3, to 5/6

It would be 3 5/6
