I would like to know how to solve this type of equation ...i know how to do one step equations but not two step if i could have a explanation that would be great ^_^

5a - 2 < 18

Add 2 on both sides:
5a - 2 + 2 < 18 + 2
5a - 0 < 20
5a < 20

Divide both sides by 5:
5a/5 < 20/5
a < 4
