You are trying to find what x to put into f(x) to get out 46. To do this, solve the following equation.
[tex] x^{2} -3 = 46[/tex]
[tex]x^2 = 49[/tex]
[tex]x^2 = \sqrt{49} [/tex]
Therefore x = 7 or x = -7

-7, 7
