On Saturday, Shawn worked in the yard for 3 5/6 hours. He worked in the yard another 4 1/6 hours on Sunday. How long did he work in the yard in all?

3 5/6 + 4 1/6
Add the whole numbers : 3 + 4 = 7
Add the fractions : 6/6 or 1 whole
Add the left over 1 whole to the whole number.
7 + 1 = 8 hours in all.
