The three clever things Montresor does to lure Fortunado into his trap are first, he gains the attention of already quite drunk Fortunado by telling him about his hidden catacombs of the Montersors, secondly Montresor "attempts" to convince Fortunado to turn buck for the sake of his health which leads to him wanting to continue on, and lastly Montresor gives Fortunado even more alcohol to make sure he stays drunk one of which is called De Grave.
