What happens when a cold air mass meets a warm air mass that is not moving?

When this happens it is formed something called FRONT. There could be 2 possibilities: 1) The cold air replaces the warm air and then rain and thunders could start or 2) The warm air replaces the cold one and there could be changes in the pressure of the athmosphere
