9 times x = 9x
9 times -2 = -18
So, 9x-18 = 18
Now, we are looking for x, so we have to get rid of anything else, either added or taken away from it.
So we are going to add 18 to both sides, to get rid of the -18, and add 18 to the other side of the equals sign.
Therefore 9x = 36.
We are not done yet because we need x on its own, not 9x, so we are going to divide 36 by 9 to find out what x equals.
36 divided by 9 = 4
x = 4

Hope this helped!
