What is the solution to the equation below?
2(x – 3) = 2x + 5

Answer:

2(x - 3)  =  2x + 5

Multiply out the left side:

2x - 6  =  2x + 5

Subtract 2x from both sides:

   -6  =  5

Since this is impossible, this "equation" cannot be solved.
